Beyond the Box: How Your Cannabis Purchase Helps Feed the Community

Cannabis and community may not seem like an obvious pair, but at Social Cannabis Dispensary, we believe they go hand in hand. Through thoughtful partnerships and purpose-driven initiatives, we’ve made it our mission to ensure that our impact goes beyond our store shelves. That’s why we’ve teamed up with our friends at Seed & Smith and Blazy Susan to launch the Max Out Bundle Box—a 56-joint collection that does more than elevate your cannabis experience. It feeds our community.

For every box sold, we’re donating $5 to Community Food Share, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating hunger in Boulder and Broomfield Counties. Let’s take a deeper look at what this incredible organization does—and why it matters now more than ever.

Understanding the Need

Food insecurity affects thousands of people in Colorado. According to Community Food Share, 1 in 10 residents of Boulder and Broomfield counties faces hunger. This includes children who rely on school meals, seniors living on fixed incomes, and working families struggling to make ends meet.

What makes this issue even more pressing is that hunger isn’t always visible. It’s the neighbor skipping meals to pay rent. It’s the college student quietly stretching a can of beans. It’s the single parent making impossible choices between food, heat, or healthcare.

That’s where Community Food Share steps in.

A Local Leader in Hunger Relief

Founded in 1981, Community Food Share is one of the most impactful food banks in the state. They provide over 10 million meals annually to people in need—working tirelessly to ensure that everyone in our community has access to fresh, healthy food.

Their work goes far beyond handing out canned goods. Through an innovative mix of food rescue programs, mobile pantries, partnerships with local farms, and nutritional education, they meet people where they are—making dignity a central pillar of their mission.

Their model is built on efficiency and care. For every dollar donated, Community Food Share can provide three meals to those in need. That means each Max Out Bundle Box helps provide 15 meals.

Programs That Make a Difference

Here are just a few of the many programs Community Food Share runs:

  • Feeding Families Pantry: Provides weekly grocery shopping opportunities to local families in need, offering fresh produce, dairy, and pantry staples.
  • Mobile Pantries: Trucks loaded with food drive out to rural or underserved areas, reaching people who may not have easy access to traditional food banks.
  • Elder Share: Delivers boxes of nutritious food monthly to low-income seniors, helping them maintain independence and health.
  • Backpack Program: Supplies kids with a backpack full of easy-to-prepare meals every weekend, ensuring they don’t go hungry when school is out.

These aren’t just services—they’re lifelines.

Fighting Waste, Feeding People

One of the most impressive aspects of Community Food Share’s work is their food rescue initiative. In partnership with grocery stores and food producers, they recover high-quality food that might otherwise go to waste and redirect it to people who need it.

In 2023 alone, they recovered over 6 million pounds of food, preventing waste and addressing hunger at the same time.

How Cannabis Can Help

So how does a box of joints fit into all of this?

When you purchase a Max Out Bundle Box, you’re not just enjoying a premium cannabis product—you’re investing in your community. You’re helping keep a food pantry stocked, keeping a kid fed over the weekend, helping a senior eat with dignity.

Cannabis can—and should—be a force for good. It’s a shared experience that has always brought people together. This time, it’s bringing people together for a greater cause.
